Literary Awards

In 1983, the LBHA Board of Directors, in response to a suggestion from John Carroll, established the LBHA Literary Award for the best book/monograph during the preceding year. It also created the Lawrence A. Frost Award for the best article in our publication (Research Review or Newsletter) during the preceding year. David Powell was commissioned to create a bronze medallion to signify the award. In 1995, the Board decided to create a third award for the best publication of any author who had not been a recipient of our two other awards and named it the Jay D. Smith Award.
